Compare the stated starting point
Loans Canada says it is a comparison platform rather than a lender. Debt.ca says it does not directly provide debt-adjustment services and instead helps introduce people to providers. Those public descriptions mean the next organization matters in both cases.
| Platform | Publicly described starting point | Next role to identify |
|---|---|---|
| Loans Canada | Loan search and comparison | The actual lender and its agreement |
| Debt.ca | Debt information and provider introductions | The counsellor, LIT or other professional responsible |
Be clear about the request you are making
If you want $5,000 for a specific expense, name the amount and purpose when asking about borrowing. If you cannot cover existing minimum payments, describe that difficulty rather than only asking for a loan. You may investigate more than one option, but each introduction should reflect the conversation you chose.
Look at the handoff and permissions
For either platform, ask who can receive your details and contact you. When a provider responds, verify its name and role before sharing further information. Separate the platform’s general explanation from the provider’s actual assessment, quote or regulated service. Keep a record of the permissions you accepted.
Our take: choose by the problem, then evaluate the provider
We have not compared live matches, measured acceptance rates or tested either platform’s response time. We therefore do not declare a conversion or service winner. The practical distinction is that borrowing and debt restructuring require different assessments; the subsequent offer deserves its own review regardless of which website introduced it.
Prepare for a conversation
- Whether you want new borrowing or help with existing debt.
- The platform’s current sharing and contact permission.
- The actual provider and its professional role.
- The offer or assessment, separate from the introduction.
You do not need account numbers, a SIN, banking credentials or uploaded documents to start our enquiry.
Will this comparison send my information to both companies?
No. Reading the page sends no enquiry. Our CTA starts the separate DebtHelpers preview, which has no live provider connections and does not submit information to either company.
Looking for a different kind of help?
Choose a repayment-guidance enquiry rather than new borrowing.
I want help with existing debt instead
